Natural copper carbonate. Mottled green stone used in jewel manufacturing. This mineral used to be extracted from deposits in the Urals and in Egypt. Nowadays, it comes from Australia, the Democratic republic of Congo and Arizona. France’s most beautiful malachite comes from Chessy (Rhône). However, malachite is a brittle stone lacking hardness and it is sensitive to acids and ammonia. |
