Silver

Other gems

This is the chemistry element Ag. Silver is a precious metal, white, brilliant, with high conductivity, much softer than copper but harder than gold. It conducts heat and electricity better than any other metal. As it is very corrosion-resistant, silver often features in chemical industry applications. Silver is subject to the corrosive effect of nitric acid at room temperature, it is corroded by sulphuric acid at high temperature and not much affected by hydrochloric acid. Combined to hydrogen sulphide it forms a black layer of silver sulphide. Pure silver is found as tiny regular crystals (cubes, octahedrons, etc.) or in veins, most often with gold or led. Most silver deposits are located in Mexico, the US, Canada, Peru, Australia, Germany, Japan, Bolivia and Sweden.
